2020 WAS AN EXTRAORDINARY YEAR.
A YEAR OF CHALLENGE AND OPPORTUNITY.

In addition to finding new ways to support artists and keep our audiences engaged, Project used the time to interrogate questions relating to the value of our work both pre-pandemic and throughout the crisis. A series of meetings were held with Project Members, Project Artists, Staff and a small sub-group of Project Board and Members who formed
a Radical Thinking Group to help inform the future of the organisation. Project Arts Centre is powered by creative ideas, critical thinking, and debate. As we look to our future in an uncertain world, we want to examine the ways in which our arts community can reflect, mediate, challenge and shape our collective fate.

FUTURE FORECAST

Throughout 2020, Project Arts Centre presented Future Forecast, a series of events and artistic interventions forming part of a speculative voyage towards the future. The system we all operate within is flawed and broken. So, we wanted to imagine something else. Who gets access to cultural and creative spaces?

What happens to a programme when no rules apply? How does a building and an organisation inform the art it presents and how does that art, in turn, impact it? What questions are artists asking and how can a cultural organisation help artists explore potential answers? Future Forecast was a multiway transmission with 2020+ vision.

PROJECT ARTISTS

In 2020 Project continued to support artists and companies through our Project Artist Initiative.
Our continued support enables artists to make live work and to reach audiences.
We worked with artists to create work, reschedule and re-plan and also offered them supports to build capacity and evolve their practice to continue to be able to create during the ongoing crisis.

Artists supported are Brokentalkers, Philip Connaughton, Shaun Dunne, Junk Ensemble, Malaprop, Una McKevitt, José Miguel Jimenez, One Two One Two, Louise White and Nyree Yergainharsian.
